Pre-Interview Preparation

Ask the journalist if they are willing to share with you the topics that the interview will cover. Read up on the latest information and trends in your industry. Jot down your main talking points and bring them with you, reading them before the interview begins.

Make sure you know where you need to be for the interview and what time, the format of the show or segment and how long it will take.

Give journalists your cell phone number so they may reach you in case of last-minute changes or questions.

Make sure you take time to relax beforehand and plan your arrival well ahead of time (keep in mind traffic and parking!).

Take some deep breaths and remind yourself that you hold the knowledge. Then just listen to what the journalist is asking you and let your expertise shine!
